Why Trust Our Washington Travel Guides?

Hey, we're Skye & Garrett, husband and wife outdoor travel bloggers based in Washington State. Skye grew up here and has lived in Washington her entire life, and Garrett has called Washington home for over 11 years now, so between us we've spent many years hiking, backpacking, and climbing all over the state. We're both hike leaders and climb leaders for The Mountaineers, where we instruct for the Basic and Intermediate Alpine Climbing Courses and lead students and graduates up alpine rock and glacier climbs throughout the Cascades. Our alpine climbing background shapes how we approach every guide we write, even the ones that are “just” day hikes. We notice exposure, scrambling sections, and route-finding, giving our hiking and backpacking guides a level of technical detail you won't find from anyone else who's only hiked maintained trails.

We're now home based in Leavenworth, right in the heart of Washington’s Cascades, while we continue to travel full-time throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. As experienced backcountry hikers and Mountaineers-trained leaders, our Washington guides, itineraries, and gear lists come directly from real miles, real teaching experience, and real route-finding, so you can plan with confidence and make the most of your time in this incredible state.
