Eightmile Campground (mile marker 8) - Eightmile Campground is the closest campground to the Enchantments trailheads and is located along Icicle Creek Road. Most of the time when we visit, we stay in our own van because it makes it easy to stay close to our objectives and spend more time outside.

Reservations are strongly recommended during peak summer weekends, though some campgrounds still offer first-come, first-served sites.
Boondocking / Dispersed Camping: Dispersed camping is limited in the Leavenworth area and legally cannot cannot camp along Icicle Creek Road or in the Snow Creek Parking Lot. There is a designated dispersed camping past the Bridge Creek Campground along the Eightmile Road. With any dispersed camping, it’s important to follow posted “No Camping” signage and Leave No Trace ethics.

Summer can get very hot, sometimes too hot for hiking, but it is an amazing time to visit for river rafting, floating the river, and time in town. In early May, wildflowers like yellow balsamroot and purple lupine bloom along the trails. By early October, golden larches paint the Enchantments and surrounding Alpine Lakes Wilderness trails in brilliant color, plus it’s Oktoberfest season, one of the busiest times of the year. Winter brings skiing, snow sports, and festive Christmas activities, making it a magical season for families.
Basically, there isn’t a wrong time to visit Leavenworth, it all just depends on what you want to do. Whether you’re chasing alpine adventures, festival fun, or a cozy snowy escape, there’s a season that’s perfect for you.
